This is in the Blue Hills region which really is not far from Sydders.
The cockatoos I love they are everywhere! Noisy though!
Below is what the Blue Hills look like on postcards.
Because of low cloud in the mountains below is what I saw.
:( Just means I have to come back I suppose and Sydney is easy - from the airport to the circular quay is 15 mins by train. Very easy.
Old post box in the fog!
The above tree was burned out by wildfire.
These prehistoric looking ferns are all around.
The falls above has an aborigine's face.
Off to the wildlife refuge with a pheasant as the appetizer.
And marsupials!
They are so cute and I can touch and feed them.
This is the evil Cassawary bird - very aggressive they come running at you like a raptor!
The look like a punk rock turkey are are bigger than an emu.
Koalas! I found out in New South Wales state, it's illegal to hold a Koala so I have to make do touching one...
He is grumpy though I am only allowed to touch his back.
Roos!
Lazing in the cloudy but warm day...
Aww!
Wallaby!
Australian Penguin - I should see more of these in Melbourne on the beach.
I forget the name of this guy.
Rock wallaby's below.
Feeding entrails to the eagle...
Below is a Tasmaina Devil, they never stop running around.
Evil raptor again...he is thinking horrible thoughts!
Dingo! Good job I don't have a baby!
Evil, evil thoughts...
Below is a brown snake, they didn't have a southern taipan here the dealiest of all!
This sand devil is quite the fancy featured thing.
And this other desert reptile has skin like the 'dream time' markings of the aboriginal people.
Kingfisher below.
Sleeping Koala
Ok, the pics get mixed up again. This is the 2000 Olympics Park where the flame was burning.
Around it are strips with all the medal winners in bronze silver and gold.
They spent lots!
This is on the Parramatta river leading back to Sydney Harbour, more outcrops withlovely homes, zillions of outcrops!
And here is the main Sydney 2000 dome.
And there is Sydders in the distance... doused by rain brought on by me. Of course everyone said it was awesome yesterday in the blue hills. You need sun to see the blue as it's oil that emanates from the eucalyptus and gum trees and rises into the hot air making a bluish mist.
Back toward the bridge - right by here Nicole Kidman just sold an apartment for 13 million.
And the opera house.
This is the art gallery I am going to tomorrow to escape the rain if it starts up.
This guy below is a Kookaburra, the national bird.
All related to Kingfishers.
Koalas sleep lots because their eucalyptus leaf diet is toxic, they eat for 8 hours then sleep, as they sleep the body breaks down the toxins.
Yep these are mixed up!
And back to the Bridge.
OK I am posting this in a crappy wifi area so will upload and add more in a bit! Who ever knew it rained so much in Australia... a few weeks ago they said they were burning alive.
I am updating this on the way to Vanuatu and at least for a day or two, well they may not have power. So excuse any lack of update!
